Gutter cleaning is the number one thing homeowners ask for online

Across 104 leads this summer, one service was requested more than any other. For a gutter contractor, that decides which page you build first and where.

What did the service mix actually look like?

We tagged every lead in the log with the service the customer asked for. Across 104 leads from 16 businesses, gutter cleaning came up 17 times. Nothing else came close within the gutter trade: repair was asked for 4 times, installation 3 times. Cleaning outnumbered the two higher-ticket services combined, by more than double.

That will surprise contractors who build their site around installation because it is the bigger job. The bigger job is not what people search for. People search for the problem they have right now, and the problem most homeowners have right now, especially heading into fall, is gutters full of leaves.

Which page should a gutter contractor build first?

The cleaning page. Then the cleaning page for every town you serve. Gutter Bandits runs a dedicated cleaning page per town in its Central NJ service area, and those pages are where the majority of its 23 leads in the window came in, including a run of 9 in August alone. A single “Services” page that mentions cleaning in a bullet list cannot rank for “gutter cleaning Millstone” against a page built for that exact search.

Installation and repair pages still matter; they are higher-ticket and they catch the searches that come after a cleaning reveals a problem. But they are the second and third pages, not the first.

What goes on the cleaning page?

A price range, because that is the first thing the searcher wants to know and the first thing an AI assistant will quote. What the service includes: downspouts flushed, debris bagged, a quick check for damage. How often it should be done and why, in plain language. Real before-and-after photos of your crew’s work, not stock. And the form, above the fold, with as few fields as your process allows. The homeowner with clogged gutters is not reading; they are looking for a number and a button.

Why does this matter more in fall?

Because the searches spike from September through November and the contractors with the pages already ranking take the volume. Pages built in October are still indexing in November. If the cleaning pages are not live now, they will be ready for next year.

Questions people ask

Why does cleaning get more requests than installation?

Because people search for the problem they have today. Clogged gutters are a recurring, seasonal problem; installation is a once-a-decade decision.

Do I need a separate cleaning page for every town?

Yes, if you want to rank for that town. A page built for one town and one service beats a general services page for that town’s searches every time.

Should I put a price on the cleaning page?

Yes. A range like $150 to $300 pre-qualifies the lead, answers the searcher’s first question, and gives AI assistants something to cite.
